We have a problem with racial harassment, bullying, and discipline disparities in our schools.

Parents across the region have started to come forward with stories of shared similar experiences where their children have been racially harassed, ridiculed, and persecuted. In several instances, the BIPOC (Black/Brown, Indigenous, Person of Color) who is the victim defending themselves has been disciplined unfairly.

There is power in numbers.

In an effort to create positive, permanent change in our schools and education systems across the region, we are collectively joining together to advocate for our children.

An online Community Forum will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:30PM for parents/guardians, representatives, and community allies.

If you are the parent/guardian of a BIPOC student who has experienced racial harassment, bullying, or discipline disparities, complete the form below. If you have witnessed these things, possibly as a staff member or parent of another child, you may also complete the form.

Virtual Community Forum Information

Wednesday, March 23rd 6:30pm

Via Zoom (Link Provided Later)

The purpose of the community forum is to create a cohesive voice that addresses the issues our children are facing in their respective school systems and to outline the objectives for our movement in the following areas:

ACCOUNTABILITY

School systems, administrators, and teachers must be held to account for the practices and policies that discriminately impact BIPOC students.

POLICY

Policies and laws that do not adequately protect BIPOC students from racial targeting and/or hinder their rights to dispute disciplinary measures have to change.

EDUCATION

Diversity, equity, and inclusion education needs to address the experience of the BIPOC student population, especially in predominately white communities. It must include staff, students, and the parents/guardians.

RECONCILIATION

The goal is a unified school body where respect, compassion, and understanding are the leading principles in communication.
